Hi teacher and classmates, This week I’m going
to talk about an expert of my field and that person is Gabriel Salazar, a
historian, academic and researcher.
He was born on January of 1936 in Santiago.
He studied at Liceo de Aplicación. Then he studied Philosophy at Universidad de
Chile. After the coup he was detained and took to a detention center in Villa
Grimaldi and after that he fled into exile Great Britain, where he received a Doctoral
on economic and social history on the University of Hull. The he
came back to Chile in 1985.
In 2006 he was awarded the National Prize
in History. Today he is working as Historic Professor at the Universidad de
Chile.
Gabriel Salazar is one of the fundators of
the historiographical called the New Social History. Some of his most famous works
are: (2006) Ser niño
"huacho" en la historia de Chile (siglo XIX), (2008) Memorias de
un Peón-Gañán Memorias de Benito Salazar Orellana; Gabriel Salazar
(Editor), (2011) En el nombre del Poder Popular Constituyente (Chile,
siglo XXI).
I admire the Professor Gabriel Salazar
because he give a different vision of the history. He demystify history facts
and an emblem characters of the history of Chile. His arguments are very
interesting. I enjoy his classes and I always learn something remarkably in
them.
Regards! (:

ReplyDeleteIt´s important that you watch your verbs:
"He was taken", "he flew".
Also vocabulary. "He is a History teacher", "he is one of the founders"
Be careful here:
"I admire (the) Professor Gabriel Salazar because he giveS a different (vision) VIEW TO (of the) history. He demystifIES historICAL facts and (an) emblemATIC characters of the history of Chile. His arguments are very interesting. I enjoy his classes and I always learn something (remarkably) REMARKABLE in them.
